Miami Heat star center Bam Adebayo out for Bucks with left hip contusion

Miami Heat star center Bam Adebayo did not play for the Heat in Monday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks featuring Damian Lillard and Yannis Adetokounmpo. Adebayo suffered a left hip contusion, according to Miami Herald reporter Anthony Kang.

Adebayo was initially listed as questionable and was subsequently scratched from the game. His injury reportedly became worse during the day, leading to pregame warmups.

According to Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, Adebayo was injured during the Miami Heat's 106-90 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

"He went through a bad leak and then was in a lot of pain yesterday when we went into town," Spoelstra said.

"It didn't get any better today."

Adebayo's absence is bad news for the Miami Heat (1-2), who have gotten off to a slow start this season. The Heat also have a serious lack of center depth behind Adebayo, with veteran Thomas Bryant and sophomore Orlando Robinson being the only centers on their roster.

Luckily for the Miami Heat, however, Adebayo is considered to be recovering from his injury on a day-by-day basis. As a result, the star big man shouldn't miss much time.

How has Bam Adebayo performed so far this season?

While Bam Adebayo is known for his defense, he was the Miami Heat's top scorer during Monday night's three-game set. As a result, the Heat will feel his absence on both ends of the court.

Adebayo is contributing 22.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 caps per game while shooting 48.0 percent from the field.

If the star big man can continue to play like this, he'll set another career high in scoring. Last season, Adebayo averaged a career-high 20.4 points per game.

Again, if Adebayo can keep up his good start, he should have a good chance at a third All-Star selection.
